    Boyd's Massage Therapy may collect personal information as required for services offered through electronic forms, email, phone, fax, mail or in person.

    This personal information includes or relates to:

    1. an individual's personal characteristics (gender, age, home address, telephone number, email address)

    2. an individual's health (health history, current health status, physicians you are currently seeing,)

    3. an individual's activities (sports played, hobbies)

    Business information although different from personal information and is not protected by privacy legislation, at Boyd's Massage Therapy your Business Information is treated like personal and will be used responsibly.

    Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation:

    Effective July 1st, 2014, legislation came into effect requiring businesses to obtain consent either written or orally, record when it was obtained, why it was obtained and the matter in which it is was obtained before sending electronic messages. Boyd's Massage Therapy uses the following electronic messages: email and text messages. Our primary method of electronically communicating with you is email but we will send text messages if it is your preferred method. In compliance with this legislation, when using our online booking system you are now required to give your consent to receiving electronic messages from Boyd's Massage Therapy. This consent is recorded, dated and maintained by Boyd's Massage Therapy. We require this consent so we may confirm appointments, send reminder messages and occasionally send out promotional material. This consent is maintained until you withdraw your consent. You can withdraw your consent at anytime by email or in person by appointment at Boyd's Massage Therapy. If you have any questions please feel free to contact our Privacy Officer.

  • Purpose of Collecting your information

    We collect, use and disclose information for purposes related to offering you Massage Therapy. The most common examples of these purposes are as follows:

    1. Registered Massage Therapists are regulated by The College of Massage Therapy. The College may inspect our records and interview our staff as part of their regulatory activities in the public's interest.

    2. Our College requires us to retain our client records for a minimum of 10 years after the last contact.

    3. When you make an online purchase of a gift certificate you are required to submit personal information such as your name and phone number. Boyd's Massage Therapy uses Paypal as its ordering and online payments. When you make a purchase through Paypal, they will ask for your name, address, and email address and other personal information necessary to fulfill your order. For the purpose of billing you will need to provide them with your credit card type, number, and expiry date. By doing so you have agreed to their privacy policies which may be different than Boyd's Massage Therapy policies. We are not responsible for, or that, we endorse the policies of Paypal.   • Your Information and Third Parties

    Boyd's Massage Therapy is a staunch supporter of the Canadian Federal Privacy Legislation. We will never rent, sell, or exchange your name or other personal information to third-party companies for any purpose. Under no circumstances will your personal information be disclosed to any third party unless we seek your expressed consent or are required to do so by law.

    Boyd's Massage Therapy understands the importance of protecting personal information. For that reason, we take the following steps.

    1. Paper information is either under supervision or secured in a locked or restricted area.

    2. Electronic hardware is either under supervision or is in a locked or restricted area. Computers/tablets are password protected.

  • Access to your Information

    With only a few exceptions, you have the right to see what personal information we hold about you. It is our policy to help you identify what records we might have about you. We will also help you understand any information you do not understand ( short forms, technical language, etc.) We reserve the right to charge a nominal fee for such requests. If you believe there is a mistake in the information, you have the right to ask for it to be corrected. This applies to factual information and not to any professional opinions we may have formed. We may ask you to provide documentation that our files are wrong. Where we agree that we made a mistake, we will make the correction. If we do not agree that a mistake has been made, we will still include a brief statement in your file that you do not agree with our information.

    Boyd's Massage Therapy collects non-personally identifiable information from you in order for us to better understand how our website is used. Information about a user's visit is logged. This information may include source of entry (search engine, direct, third party marketing site), operating system, browser type, how long on site, page visits, and location. When visiting our website small text files known as "cookies" may be stored on your computer's hard drive. We customize certain webpage content based on your browser type or the information provided by our cookie. We do not use cookies to retrieve personal information about you from your computer. If you reject the cookie, you will still be able to browse our site but certain areas may not appear correctly or work as intended. These areas can include online store and appointment bookings.
